Rain can't stop us!

The rain put a damper on site inspections

We finally made it back to our room after an eventful, rainy day.

Free at last!

It took 2 hours of driving, and 30 minutes in the police station, but we finally got our license plate back from the cops. I was refused by 4 police officers, even though I agreed to pay the amount. It was a janitor who secretly suggested I go straight to the chief of police who was standing in the parking lot. The end result: the chief signed the ticket and I got the plate without having to pay a single peso!

The cops took our license plate and wouldn't give it back until we paid the $45 ticket. Unfortunately, out ticket had not registered in the system so they refused to give it back.

Parking Ticket Nightmare

Our parking ticket in Playa del Carmen was a nightmare --- this is proof that not every minute on this job wonderful.

Fire dancing

While site inspecting our first bar, the owner brought us to the beach to watch a fire show, but we didn't know hoola hooping with fire was going to be included, which was quite entertaining!

Rain Rain Rain at the Ruins

After the thunderstorm, we took shelter under a palapa at the Coba ruins. Due to the number of site inspections we had to do, we ended up walking 2 miles back in the pouring rain.

Coba Ruins Wet, part II

Halfway up the ruins, we were hit by a downpour and found ourselves in the middle of a thunder storm.

Coba Ruins Dry, Part I

Coba Ruins -- By the time we climbed midway to the top, we were stuck in a rainstorm

After 10 minutes of hanging by a wire above the croc-waters, we were rescued by a zip-line worker

Keeping our feet above the crocodile-infested waters until help arrived!

Zip line in Coba

The perfect cure for Marlise's fear of heights was this zip line that dropped 500 meters over a crocodile infested lake. Naturally we were too heavy and got stuck in the middle. CHECK OUT THE CROCODILE AT THE 28 SECOND MARK!

Zip Line in Coba

We zip lined from the top of this tower, 500 meters across a crocodile-infested lake! Just our luck, there was no wind, and too much weight. We dangled over the water for 10 minutes!!

Finally, Jen and I managed to get more than 6 hours of sleep. Our morning started with breakfast at the all-inclusive Blue Tulum resort, and a visit around the resort.
